Don’t Give Up THAT BABY!

It’s time to make a change, time to let go this cycle of regression. It’s time for this yoke to be broken and burden taken off. It is time to move on! Your past should not determine your future and you don’t have to repeat the same mistakes and watch your life blown away, cut short by mediocrity and your calling sabotaged by your childhood issues.

This is the story of Karen. Karen was less than four months old when her mother gave her up and walked away; not for adoption, she was just abandoned! Karen did not set eyes on her mother again until she was 6 years old when a relative told her who her real mum was. It felt so awful to discover it in this manner and very painful too, but at the same time a relief to know. It was a good discovery and she hoped to get together as one big family someday, but that would be a dream in a cocoon never to be lived!

Eventually, this began to affect her personality and overall self-esteem. All attempts to draw closer was met with such stiff resistance. Karen’s mother drove her daughter miles away with her attitude and unkind words like, “I don’t want you”, “you are not welcome” and so on. Karen felt like a stranger to her mother. She was so heart-broken! Those words and many more pierced her heart. She didn’t ever want to think about them because they brought streams of tears as from a reservoir and Karen would cry for as long as it took until she felt relief from this burden. Oh God! How she longed for her mother’s love and affection! Oh, how she cried Real Life Issues her eyes out, longing for a mother who wouldn’t even care.

Growing up was so difficult; exposed to all kinds of things a young girl shouldn’t. Nobody cared to know, nor bothered to ask how she felt. Neither did anyone bother to offer any form of support or at least point to a help centre where she could get real help. Such feeling of rejection she felt that it seemed to gradually eat her up.

As time passed, the call of God over her life was affected because her past had such a firm grip on her. Her past became a hurting shadow that held her bound for years and her spiritual growth was hampered. Her relationship with the Heavenly Father and how she felt about people was generally affected. She still couldn’t work out or understand why it was so difficult to have a relationship with her mum even though the latter disapproved of her choice to follow Christ.

She couldn’t comprehend how a woman could carry a baby for nine long months and just give up because of the challenges and hardships of life and treat her baby as nothing! It got to a stage where Karen decided it was time to get over it and move on. She suddenly woke up to her senses and smelled the coffee. At that turning point, she developed a growing desire to be set free completely to fulfil destiny and achieve purpose even though a great part of her missed mothering, nurturing, love and affection.

In September last year she painfully and tearfully decided after her mother bombarded her with such negative (this time deeper than ever), horrible and unkind words – an ordeal which really devastated her and caused her to cry like a baby for the whole day. Afterwards she made up her mind never to shed tears on the issue anymore and that whatever price she would have to pay to stay strong for her children would be worth the pain. She determined to give her own children the love and affection she was denied.

As things were not getting better between Karen and her mother, she decided to get on her knees, fall on her face and pray. She encouraged herself in the Lord through God’s word and the word of the Lord spoken over her and to her personally during her devotion. Karen’s faith was lifted, and she found comfort in God’s promises, with a lot of memories of God’s goodness and kindness towards her. She became very thankful, appreciative, understanding and considerate, looking at the whole scenario from a fresh perspective.

The point is Karen could have been aborted; nowhere to be found or dead by now. So, based on this new reasoning, she concluded in her mind that there was a possibility that her mum loved her but just didn’t know how to express or show it to her daughter.

At that point, Karen made up her mind to release her mother and chose not to hold her to ransom in her heart like a hostage; she forgave her, let go and chose to love her mother, despite all odds. Indeed, mercy triumphs over judgement. Christ died for us to reconcile us back to the Father. What manner of love is this? God’s love and mercy alone give strength to enable our mortal bodies to carry on, and abundant grace and love to love the unlovable. Lamentations 3:22-24 says” the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, and His mercy never comes to an end because they are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.” Whatever situation or circumstance you are facing at this present time, be it spiritual, emotional, physical or financial – don’t give up your God-given passion!

You are pregnant with destiny, nations are in your womb, you just can’t ‘give up that baby’ neither can you afford to fold your arms and allow your baby to die in the hands of the enemy. There’s hope, help is on the way, just hold on to God’s unchanging hands and see the salvation of the Lord.

Cultivate a closer walk with Jesus. He is closer than a brother. He’s more than a friend. He is the Father, Lord, Saviour, King. He’s the reliable Friend that you can call and count on at any time. The feelings come and go but now they are so overwhelming that I must release them. There is a growing desire and compassion within me for orphans – the rejected, unwanted, neglected, abandoned, battered, sexually abused, victims of broken relationships, the nobodies’ that no one wants to associate with. Yes, you are the ones!

Nobody believes in you or thinks you have anything to offer. All people may see are your mistakes – they can’t see beyond the mess and don’t even believe anything good could come out of you. But can you blame them? Most people can’t relate with you very well because they cannot see your soul, they do not see what you are made of, and they don’t know the real you. God uses the weak, base, good-for-nothing.

He uses the foolish things to confound the wise. He makes something good out of nothing. There is a uniqueness about you, something peculiar about you, a virtue, and a jewel. There is a treasure within you so uncommon to come by; you are a real gem! What people see and dismiss as insignificant is the very thing He wants to use.

God wants to break, mould, shape, and prune us into His image and likeness so that we can bring forth good fruit which will endure. Take a step closer to your destiny!
